Sweet and Sour Fish Recipe
SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE INGREDIENTS
Sesame Oil - 1/8 cup
Minced Ginger - 1 tsp
Minced Garlic - 1 tsp
Pineapple Juice - 1 cup
Brown Sugar - 3/4 cup
Apple Cider Vinegar - 1/3 cup
Ketchup - 3 tbsp
Light Soy Sauce - 2 tbsp
Cornstarch - 1 1/2 tbsp
Water - 2 tbsp
Red Food Coloring - 2 drops
METHOD
Heat a small saucepan over medium heat.
Once heated, add sesame oil, ginger and garlic.
Let cook for 1 minute.
Add pineapple juice, sugar, apple cider, ketchup and soy sauce.
Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Add cornstarch to water to make a slurry.
Once sugar is dissolved, whisk slurry into pot.
Continue to whisk until the sauce thickens.
Remove from heat once it has reached your desired consistency.
Whisk in food coloring.
Set aside.
FISH INGREDIENTS
Swai - 1 lb (cubed)
Vinegar - 1/4 cup
Minced Ginger - 1 tsp
Minced Garlic - 1 tsp
Five Spice Powder - 1/4 tsp
Chinese All Purpose Seasoning - 1/2 tsp
Vegetable Oil - 4 cups
METHOD
Wash cubed fish in vinegar and water.
Drain off excess water.
Place fish in a bowl.
Add remaining ingredients and massage into fish.
Cover and allow to marinate for 6 hours or overnight.
Heat oil over high heat to 350°F.
Dredge in flour or cornstarch.
Fry fish until golden brown.
Toss in sauce and enjoy!
NOODLES INGREDIENTS
Knorr Teriyaki Noodles - 2 packs
Water - 3 cups
Oil - 2 tbsp
METHOD
Add water and oil to pot.
Bring to a boil.
Add noodles, reduce to simmer and let cook for 7 minutes.
