Siparia Tour: Complete Agri Food & Culture Tour In the Southern Town 🇹🇹 Foodie Nation x Alpha Sennon

Alpha Sennon, Founder and Executive Director of WhyFarm, takes Rhett Mc Carthy on an immersive journey through the southern Borough of Siparia in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹


The tour begins at Blacks Doubles in Syne Village, where Alpha introduces Rhett to one of his favorite breakfast spots on the go. Here, the bara is deep-fried fresh on the spot, then topped with hot channa and all the usual fixings.


Just before entering Siparia, the duo stops by the “Ital Shop,” as Alpha calls it—one of his go-to places for fresh vegetables, fruits, ground provisions, and other natural essentials. Of course, they visit the Daisy Voisin Statue at a popular hub to reflect on her impact on parang music and Trinidadian culture as a whole.


On their way to High Street, Siparia, Alpha drives through Irwin Park to show Rhett the local sporting complex, which includes a cricket stadium, cycling velodrome, swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, and a football field—all bustling with activity during the Siparia Borough Day festivities.


Heading down High Street, they stop by Lisa’s Food Place / L.M. Southern Caterers to check out the buzz. The eatery offers a wide selection of breakfast and lunch options, including coconut bake, sada roti, stewed chicken, macaroni pie, callaloo, and cowheel/pigtail soup.


At WhyFarm, they take a walk through the garden, where Rhett samples a bounty of fruits, vegetables, herbs, seasonings, and provisions—all grown on-site. Naturally, they also sample fresh cocoa straight from the tree.


Next, they visit the Siparia Market and take a walk back up High Street to meet more local vendors selling fresh juices, coconut water, punches, snacks, honey, avocados, pimento peppers, fruits, and even plants.


For their second lunch stop, the family-owned Zenga’s Restaurant serves up vegetable rice, macaroni salad, stewed chicken, and coo coo. Afterward, they head to Massy Stores to spot WhyFarm’s AgriMan Callaloo Pack on the shelves—a reminder of the importance of Farm-to-Table initiatives.


An iconic landmark in Siparia, the La Divina Pastora Roman Catholic Church, marks the final stop before heading to Delpino’s Ranch. There, the pair tour the natural grounds and get a feel for what families experience at this southern retreat. The ranch features chulhas, a dirt oven, fishing ponds, swings, a swimming pool, and even an overnight cabin—perfect for small parties and events.


After enjoying a hearty chicken soup at Delpino’s, they venture to Zion Organic to meet Soul, a key figure working to preserve the local environment. He introduces Rhett to some unique fruits while giving an immersive tour of the land and family cabins available for rent.


The final stop: Heritage Petroleum Siparia Deltones. More than just a steelpan yard, it stands as a historic pillar of musical excellence, community development, innovation, and sustainability in the region.

T&T has a worldly reputation for excellence in cuisine and culinary superiorty for good reason as it is home to some of the most fertile land in the world (micro-climate) that produces vast varieties of ingredients that noone else can claim. The farming and cooking skills needed to produce what we produce has it's roots in India and Africa which is mostly unique to T&T.
