Trinbagonian Breadfruit Chips Recipe


Breadfruit - 1

Oil for frying - 3 cups

Corn Starch - 1/4 cup (optional)

Salt - to taste

Chadon Beni/Culantro - 1/4 cup (optional)


  1. Peel and remove the core of the breadfruit.

  2. Slice breadfruit into wedges.

  3. Place in boiling water and allow to cook until tender (about 5-10 minutes depending on how ripe it is).

  4. Drain and cool under cold water to stop the cooking process.

  5. Heat oil to 350°F.

  6. Slice breadfruit into thin slices.

  7. Dredge breadfruit in cornstarch for a crispier chip.

  8. Fry breadfruit until golden brown.

  9. Season with salt and chadon beni.

  10. Enjoy!
