How To Make Trini Oatmeal Porridge


Start your day on the right foot with this hearty Oatmeal Porridge.


Yield: 2 to 4 Servings


Ingredients:


Water – 4 cups

Bay Leaves - 2

Cinnamon Stick - 1

Rolled Oats - 1 ½ cups

Salt – 1 pinch

Evaporated Milk - 1 ½ cups

Nutmeg - ½ tsp (grated)

Condensed Milk - 1 cup

Mixed Essence - ¼ tsp

Aromatic Bitters – 1 Dash


Method:


 In a medium pot over medium heat, add water, bay leaves and cinnamon sticks.

 Bring to a boil and allow to cook for 10 mins.

 Stir in rolled oats and salt and allow to cook for 5 mins, stirring occasionally.

 When the mixture thickens, lower the heat and whisk in evaporated milk, nutmeg, condensed milk, essence and bitters.

 Whisk mixture and allow to simmer for 15 mins.

 As it continues to cook and reduce, add water to adjust desired thickness of the porridge.
