INGREDIENTS

Flour - 4 Cups (Sifted)

Yeast - 1 Tsp

Baking Powder - 1/2 Tsp

Saffron (Turmeric) Powder - 3/4 Tsp

Salt - 1 1/2 Tsp

Chadon Beni - 12 Leaves

Garlic - 4 Cloves

Hot Pepper - To Taste

Water - 1 3/4 Cups

Oil - For Frying

METHOD

  1. Mix flour, yeast and baking powder in a bowl.

  2. Add saffron and salt and mix well.

  3. Set aside.

  4. Finely chop or grind chadon beni, garlic and hot pepper then add to water.

  5. Add liquid mixture to flour mixture, 1/3 at a time until a thick paste is formed.

  6. Cover and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

  7. Heat oil to 350°F.

  8. Coat two tablespoons in oil.

  9. Using the oiled spoons, scoop the batter into the oil and fry until golden brown.

  10. Serve with tamarind sauce.

So good and easy. I halved the recipe due to there only being 2 of us. I still got 21. I’ll definitely make them again. I’ll add more spice next time though.
