Trini Cucumber Chutney Recipe


Cucumber - 1 lb

Minced Garlic - 1 tbsp

Minced Scotch Bonnet Pepper - 1/2 tsp or to taste

Chadon Beni (Culantro) - 1/4 cup (finely chopped)

Fine Thyme - 1 sprig (optional)

Salt - to taste

Black Pepper - to taste


  1. Peel and wash cucumbers.

  2. Pat dry.

  3. Grate cucumbers over a strainer and allow excess water to drain off.

  4. Set aside in strainer.

  5. Finely chop or mince garlic, pepper, chadon beni and thyme together into a fine paste.

  6. Squeeze off excess water from cucumbers and place into a bowl.

  7. Add herb mixture to cucumbers.

  8. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  9. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

  10. Enjoy!
