In this episode of How To? Foodie Nation, Khary and Tiff welcome special guest Chef Arianne, who’s here to prove that dinnertime doesn’t have to be a battle, even with picky eaters!
She’s showing us how to whip up a full meal in just 30 minutes that your kids will actually want to eat:
-Crispy Pork Chops
-Broccoli Slaw
-German Spaetzle Noodles
Never heard of Spaetzle before? Don’t worry, Chef Arianne shares all her tips and tricks to help shape and form your child’s palate in a way that makes trying new foods fun, not scary. This recipe is easy, quick, and kid-approved.
Pork chop night (can sub with chicken fillets)
Chef's personal favourite and go to at her household. Simple, healthy filling dish that comes together in 30mins, gets your kids eating balanced all the while looking like a star
Crispy pork chop
-4 pork chops or chicken breast
-salt and pepper to taste
-¼ cup flour
-½ cup water
-2 cups crushed Cheddar-flavored snack chips
-oil for frying
Method
-lightly sprinkle salt and pepper on pork or chicken and set aside
-make a light watery style batter with flour and water and set aside
-crush cheddar-flavored snack chips
-crust pork or chicken with cheddar-flavored snack chips
-fry until golden
Spaetzle
2 eggs
1 cup flour
⅛ cup milk
Pinch of salt
2tbsp butter
½ yellow onion diced
2 tbsps parsley
Method:
-Bring water to a boil in small pot
-In a bowl mix first 4 ingredients into a batter.
-Over boiling water place any utensil with holes an brush dough over the water until little “noodles” fall out.
note :When they float they are ready
-in a small frying pan carmelized onions add spaetzle,parsley and butter and toss until fragrant
Broccoli slaw
2 apples diced
1cup shredded cabbage
½ cup shredded broccoli
¼ cup mayo
2tbsps sugar
2tbsp apple cider vinegar
1tsp chia seeds
Method:
-mix last 4 ingredients into a dressing and toss veggies in it
-Serve
