How To Make Shepherd's Pie (Cottage Pie) 🇹🇹 Foodie Nation

In Episode 2 of How To? Foodie Nation, the roles are reversed, Tiff’s showing Khary how to make her Granny’s famous Shepherd’s Pie. It’s a dish full of childhood memories and hearty goodness… watch to find out how it all goes down!


Yield : 4 - 6 servings

You will need :

2lbs Potato

2 cups cheese (grated)

1⁄3 cup milk

2 1⁄2 - 3 tbsp unsalted Butter

1lb Mince meat

3⁄4 cup Green seasoning

2 tbsp Pimento (finely chopped)

2 tbsp pimento sauce

1 1⁄2 tbsp Garlic (finely chopped)

2 Tsp Ginger (finely chopped)

1⁄2 cup Onion (diced)

1⁄2 cup Ketchup

1 tsp Garlic powder

1 tsp Onions powder

1⁄2 tsp Paprika

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

1-2 tbsp oil for cooking

1 cup water


How to :

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease baking dish.

2. Peel potatoes, cut into small cubes and boil in lightly salted water until tender.

3. While potatoes are cooking, season mincemeat.

4. Heat oil in pan, add seasoned mincemeat. Keep stirring so nothing sticks to the

bottom of the pan.

5. Add a little water, cover and leave for 5 minutes.

6. Check potatoes, once ready, strain but reserve about 1 cup of hot water and set

aside.

7. Stir mincemeat and add remaining water, this should just cover the meat, bring to a

simmer and cover.

8. In a bowl, mash the potatoes, adding in milk, butter and some of hot water you set

aside earlier.

9. Mix until a smooth, creamy consistency. Add about half cup of cheese and salt. Taste

and adjust accordingly.

10. Stir mincemeat, taste for seasoning and adjust to suit. Meat should be tender and

cooked down but not dry.

11. In your greased dish, for the base spread some of the mashed potatoes, covering the

bottom, no holes or spaces.

12. Add mincemeat then top with remaining mashed potatoes. Finish with remainder of

grated cheese.
