Join Rhett Mc Carthy as he travels to Barbados for the 2025 Barbados Food and Rum Festival, one of the Caribbean’s biggest culinary celebrations.
From mixology sessions to rum tastings, street food, and all-inclusive beach parties, this festival truly showcases the best of Caribbean food, culture, and rum.
Day 1: The adventure begins with an exciting mixology class led by renowned Bajan mixologist Shane McClean, where the Caribbean & Latin America media group learns how to make a flavored rum liqueur from scratch.
Day 2: We head underground to the famous Harrison’s Cave for their new Taste & Tales experience, featuring a Mount Gay Rum tasting, a tram tour, and a hands-on cooking session preparing green figs (bananas) and flying fish, a true Bajan classic.
The official festival opening at Oistins Bay Garden brings the vibes; grilled mahi mahi, marlin, snapper, flying fish, and macaroni pie. Local chefs, moko jumbies, steelpan music, and dancers bring the celebration to life.
Day 3: A quick stop in Bridgetown before heading to Hastings Rock, where a featured chef whips up crispy pork belly with the Caribbean Sea as the backdrop.
That night, it’s time for the Rum Route: a lively Bajan rum shop crawl from Rihanna Drive to the Mount Gay Distillery, complete with cocktails, music, and authentic island culture.
Day 4: The Rise and Rum Breakfast Beach Party kicks off the morning with great food, live DJs and local soca artistes, and plenty of rum.
Day 5: The festival ends in style at Liquid Gold Feast, a premium all-inclusive Caribbean food and rum gala; the perfect close to one of the most vibrant weeks in the Caribbean culinary calendar.
