How To Make Trini Kachori
Dev returns to show us how he prepares his Kachori, a local delicacy that also happens to be fully Vegan!
1 cup dried channa, soaked overnight OR 1 cup tinned channa
1 cup yellow dhal, soaked overnight
1/2 cup flour
1-2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp saffron powder
1 small onion, minced
3/4 cup green seasoning (or as much as you like)
salt to taste
oil for frying
Using a food processor, blend the channa and dhal together as fine as you can get it.
Add in all other ingredients except for the oil, mix well and make sure everything is fully
Using your hands, form flattened circles or small patties with rounded tops and bottoms.
Heat up your oil until it is just smoking, and fry for about 5 mins per side. Check the
inside of the first one to ensure everything is cooked through. The oil cannot be too hot,
as the outside will burn and the inside will remain raw.
