Cheesy Ground Provision Pie Recipe
YIELD - (6-8) Servings
Green Bananas - 2 ( 1/4 inch pieces) Sweet Potato - 8 oz (1/2 inch cubes) Eddoes - 8 oz (1/2 inch cubes) Yam - 8 oz (1/2 inch cubes) English Potato - 6 oz (1/2 inch cubes) Butter - 2 oz Flour - 1/4 cup Heavy Cream- 2 cups / 1/2 liter Salt - 1 tsp Black Pepper - 1/4 tsp Oregano - 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning - 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper - 1/8 tsp Garlic Powder - 1/2 tsp Onion Powder - 1/2 tsp New Zealand Cheddar Cheese - 1/2 lb (grated)
Boil green bananas, sweet potato, eddoes, yam and english potatoes until tender.
Drain and set aside.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a sauce pot over medium heat, add butter.
Once butter is melted add flour and whisk vigorously until flour is cooked and mixture reaches a caramel colour.
Whisk in heavy cream.
Bring cream mixture to a simmer.
Whisk in seasoning and spice blend.
Remove from heat.
Add provision to cream mixture.
Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
Cover with cheese.
Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.
