Sweet Cinnamon Plantain Balls Recipe


Ripe Plantain - 3 lbs Cinnamon - 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar - 1/2 cup Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs - 1 1/2 cups Oil for frying - 2 cups


  1. Heat medium sized pot over high heat.

  2. Pour in 6 cups of water, cover and bring to a rolling boil.

  3. Remove the ends of each plantain and then divide into 1 1/2 inch pieces.

  4. Add plantain to boiling water and let cook for 10 minutes.

  5. Strain and remove the skins.

  6. Add cinnamon and sugars.

  7. Mash until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

  8. Cover and place in the refrigerator to cool until firm.

  9. Once plantain mixture is firm, form mixture into 1 inch thick balls (about 2 tablespoons).

  10. Coat balls in breadcrumbs.

  11. Once all are coated, place in refrigerator to firm up.

  12. Heat oil to 350°F.

  13. Fry balls until golden brown (about 2 minutes turning halfway through).

  14. Enjoy!
